St. Louis Antique Mall began as "Manhattan Antique Marketplace," located in St. Ann, Missouri. Within a few years, "MAM" as it was known, grew into a community of dedicated antiquers and pickers. The biggest asset of "MAM" was not just the antiques. Rather, it was the people -the team, vendors and customers - that created more just an antique mall in St. Louis. "MAM" was a community in which everyone could enjoy their love of all things old and collectible in a family-friendly environment.
Chad and Stephanie Lane began their journey with MAM in 2018, shortly after it opened. After their first visit and armload of purchases, they returned frequently; gradually filling their house with vintage "treasures" of all sorts. Chad had spent a lifetime buying and selling odds and ends for entertainment, and Stephanie joined in the fun, first filling their home with "farmhouse" then transitioning to an MCM basement and a boho living room.
Eventually, with every nook in their house filled, they knew they needed to start an antique booth in order to justify any further purchases at all.
In October of 2020, they opened their first booth, rapidly expanding this to 3 booths. At the same time, they expanded their buying to include 2 weekly auctions and a carefully mapped path of weekly estate sales.
New Beginnings - The Biggest "Pick" Yet
When Manhattan Antique Marketplace announce in June of 2021 that it was closing its doors for good, Stephanie posted sad face emojis on the announcement. Chad was unhappy about relocating 3 booths' worth of stuff back into the house. They talked for a bit and thought, "Well, maybe we could buy it?"
New Location - New Name
Chad and Steph reached out to the owners of Manhattan Antique Marketplace and within a short time, arranged to purchase their favorite antique mall with long-time business partners, Matt and Tayler D'Rion. Their favorite team members and many of the vendors immediately signed on to continue the "MAM" tradition in a new venue.
With the new location came an opportunity to relook at the mall in a new light - was there a name that better represented the community that had been built?
As lifetime Midwesterners and long-time St. Louis residents, Chad and Steph love St. Louis dearly. They've raised their children here, and long ago decided that St. Louis was their "forever home." Therefore, it was very clear that the new antique mall - located in St. Louis - should have a name that reflected that. And so, "St. Louis Antique Mall" was born.
The Future of St. Louis Antique Mall
The move of St. Louis Antique Mall to its current location was a crazy few weeks. However, with the help of the past owner and his crew, as well as the team members of MAM and the vendors, the move was completed within 6 weeks and the doors of everyone's favorite antique mall in St. Louis were open once again.
Chad and Stephanie continue to buy far too many things to "sell in the mall." The vendors and team members of St. Louis Antique Mall are still the same dedicated antiquers that made the location so special to begin with.
Looking toward the future, we look forward to creating strong relationships with the community of St. Louis - antiquers, pickers, collectors, hoarders, antique mall owners, estate sales gurus, and creators.
We look forward to sharing our love of old stuff with everyone in St. Louis, whether you've only ever purchased things from IKEA or Target, or whether you'd be ashamed to admit that you'd ever purchased something for full retail price.
Come on in today and say "hi." We'll be glad you came in.
